The ?Austro-Italian Markestra? is a joint of ?The Kalksburg Markestra? and ?MTJ Markestra?, two bands that recorded for the CD ?Sounds Like... Marco Tocilj?, produced by the Italian sax player and composer who shares his activity between Roma and Vienna. The band presents the CD, in which Marco developed his personal vision of jazz and music, mixing very different material such original songs and jazz tunes, Italian folk and pop songs, contemporary and improvised music as well; all that is used as departure point for improvisations. Result is an original sound celebrating music and freedom, in an atmosphere of collective joy and amusement. (Pressetext)
Der italienische Saxophonist Marco Tocilj wurde mir von Paul Skrepek vorgestellt und beide gestalteten mit wechselnden Besetzungen eine sympathische Late-Night-Schiene. Eine Situation ist mir noch bestens erinnerlich, nämlich jene, als die Kollegen auf der Galerie vor der Bar konzertierten und das Publikum anfänglich irritiert die Band erst suchen musste. The Austro-Italian Markestra nennt sich nun jene Großformation, die auf Betreiben von Tocilj eigens für diesen Abend zusammengestellt wurde. Benvenuti! CH
